Over 11,000 women served in the Vietnam War as military personnel. Although most were nurses, they served in a variety of other ways. That wasn't all: There were also civilian women who served in humanitarian organizations. In all there were some 265,000 women who volunteered to serve both inside and outside the country during the Vietnam era, and many were wounded or killed. Dedicated in 1993, the Vietnam Women's Memorial commemorates them all.
Signed by photographer Frank McClellan, this poster shows a photo of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial reflecting the Vietnam Women's Memorial, thereby capturing in a single picture the sacrifices made by both the men and women who served in the Vietnam era.
