This early home of Andrew Johnson sits directly across from his Tailor Shop. While living in this home, Andrew Johnson refined his rough education, and he became a notable and respected artisan of the town of Greeneville, TN. The men of the town soon began gathering in Johnson's Tailor Shop for debates. Young Johnson proved so talented at speaking that he was encouraged to run for public office.
