Steamtown National Historic Site

Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) was established on October 30, 1986 to further public understanding and appreciation of the role steam railroading played in the development of the United States. This colorful publication tells the story of the impact of railroading on America, the history of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad and its yards in Scranton, and the formation of the national historic site.
