It shows the very first cinematic kiss and a tribute to butterflys produced by the young Edison Manufacturing Company. Insights to each sequence provided by Edison film scholar Charles Musser. May Irwin Kiss was shot in April, 1896 and Annabelle Butterfly Dance was shot April-August, 1895.
