The "Angel of the Battlefield" so called by the soldiers who saw her tireless efforts to help the wounded. Giving aid to soldiers at Chantilly, Antietam and Fredericksburg, Clara built a nursing group with aid and contributions from the Army, private organizations, and citizens. Clara and her assistants did all manner of duty to succor and save the wounded, often from both sides of the war. Aiding doctors in surgery or walking the battlefield to fee hot soup and bread to the fallen, Clara worked to exhaustion to help the helpless. After the war she organized the American Red Cross. This figurine is made of fine pewter, measures about four inches tall. And is one of 350.
