Description:

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park memorializes the final days of the American Civil War. Four years in war, culminated in peace at the Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865 when Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his diseased, fatigued, and battle weary army to Union General Ulysses S. Grant. By nightfall the Civil War was over. Days later to celebrate and present themselves as countrymen of the same nation, the remainder of the Lee’s forced removed all traces of the Confederacy.

Part of our Civil War Collection, the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park Anniversary Coin is a collector’s item that pays homage to the site where a war torn America set off for a new beginning. Red, white, and blue, memorialize the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War and the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park on the front (heads). The back (tails) is a picture of Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant, shaking hands against a neutral green background, signaling the end of a nation divided.
