The Henry Hill Home served as a refuge to Judith Henry, a 90 year old woman who refused to leave her home at the start of the First Battle of Manassas and was subsequently killed by Yankee fire. The line of cannons was General Rickett's batteries that were hotly contested throughout the battle. The red obelisk was the first monument ever erected to soldiers who fought in the Civil War-the New York zouaves of the First Battle of Manassas/Bull Run.
