Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery Magnet

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were sent to explore the West by President Thomas Jefferson. Finding a water route to the Pacific, exploring trade possibilities and recording scientific observations was their mission. The Corps consisted of men except Sacagawea (an Indian woman) and her son. Clark's black slave named York was with the party. Their maps, reports on Indian cultures, and unknown plants and animals proved valuable to the U.S. in later years.
