Displayed on our wooden ornament is a picturesque street view of the Lincoln Home on 8th & Jackson Street in Springfield, Illinois. Once a one and a half story cottage, Abraham and his Wife, Mary, expanded the home to accommodate their growing family. Here the Lincoln’s lived 17 years, from 1844 to 1861 when Abraham was elected 16th President of the United States. In the years since his assassination in 1865, the home has attracted visitors from around the world, seeking to understand and celebrate his life, preserved by the Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
