During the French and Indian War, the British rivaled the French for possession of land in the New World. One of the ways the British did this was by constructing Fort Loudoun in Tennessee. The presence of the fort, however, did more than just provide an outpost; it also led to an alliance with the local Cherokee Indians, strengthening the British against the French.
With its illustration of British soldiers next to an American Indian, this embroidered patch pays tribute not only to Fort Loudoun State Historic Area but also to the important alliance between the two groups.
