Description

It was once called the Sunken Road, but after a confrontation there during the Battle of Antietam, it became known as Bloody Lane, and for good reason: Some three hours of fighting produced nothing but the deaths or wounding of more than 5,000 soldiers.

With the help of this guide, visitors to Antietam National Battlefield can take a hiking tour of Bloody Lane Trail, following in part the same path as the Federal troops who advanced toward the Sunken Road on that day long ago. The guide includes photographs, color battle maps, and plenty of historical details to accompany the six stops on this trail.

Now a manual to go along with the Video at the park. This will be a good talking point when visitors come to us and ask about the battlefields.
