Captain James Hope was a Union officer and a successful artist who also happened to be at the Battle of Antietam in September 1862. While there, he sketched several areas of the battlefield. This folding brochure for Antietam National Battlefield includes reproductions of Hope's color paintings of four scenes from the battle, along with corresponding historical notes, a short biography on Captain Hope, a map showing the park locations of the painted scenes, and more.
