On the morning of September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 was delayed about 25 minutes in Newark, New Jersey, due to flight traffic. By the time the plane was airborne and hijacked, the other attacks (at the Pentagon and the World Trade Center) had already happened, giving the passengers a chance to learn about them through phone calls and realize their situation was only part of a larger attack plan. Knowing this, they boldly decided to fight back and try to regain control of the plane. They failed—but only in part, for their counterattack led to the hijackers' decision to crash the plane, thus preventing them from carrying out their full attack plan.
Presented in patriotic red, white and blue, this oval decal is a powerful tribute to the passengers and crew of Flight 93, bearing the flight number surrounded by 40 stars representing the passengers and crew who died in the crash.
