On August 21, 2017, America will see its first solar eclipse in 38 years, and John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is within the cone of the eclipse. The ''cone'' means in the darkest shadow of the eclipse, in which you can view the total eclipse. At this park the partial phase of this momentous event starts at 9:07 AM (PDT), and the totality starts at 10:21 AM (PDT). The totality will only last 2m 1s, so make sure you're on time! Our John Day Fossil Beds Total Solar Eclipse Mug features a map showing the path of the total eclipse as well as information specific to the park. Use our mug as a reminder to go out and see this once-in-a-lifetime event.
