Committed to craftsmanship, the 2018 Jamestown Glass Paperweight honors the Colonial glass tradition established in 1608 Jamestown, Virginia. Individually hand crafted - the only way glassware is ever produced at the Jamestown Glasshouse - the paperweight recreates glassblowing in Colonial times. Depicted is a glassblower with his hair tied in a queue, a style common during the Colonial era, using a blow pipe, and it reads, ‘’Jamestown, Virginia 1608-2018.’’
Part of a limited edition, this glass piece showcases the artistry of modern glassblowers while celebrating their glass ancestry. Green, it bears the natural color of glass, the only color available to Colonial Jamestown glassblowers.
