This 18-minute film, produced by the National Park Service for Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania, looks back on the heyday of steam railroading through the life of one man.  He saw the progression from small, light trains to the high-speed main line, from the Great Depression through World War II, and from steam locomotives to the new diesel-electrics.

Steamtown National Historic Site preserves the history of these massive machines through guided tours, a history museum, technology museum, working roundhouse, and a theater showing this film.
