Trail of Tears runs along what used to be Wire Road. There is a very faint imprint of what remains of the road. This is the path Cherokees and other American Indians travelled in the winter of 1838-39 when they were forced off their lands.
This hiking stick medallion pictures a group of American Indians travelling in the harsh winter. They are bundled up against the elements, but they still don’t look warm enough. This image is contrasted against a jet black border with "Trail of Tears" written in gold letters above it. Pin this medallion to your hiking stick to commemorate American Indians who lost their lives on this trail.
