Crowds optimistically cheered the Union troops as they marched forth from Washington, DC, in July 1861 to crush the Confederate troops once and for all and bring a quick end to the Civil War. Hopes were so high that Congressmen and other civilians followed the 35,000 Federal troops to Manassas and picnicked nearby to watch the ''show,'' but they were in for a rude awakening.
This DVD contains the orientation film shown at the Manassas National Battlefield Park. You'll catch glimpses into the lives of both civilians and soldiers, see landmarks on the battlefield, witness recreations of parts of the battle, and more.
